What is the Discipleship Training School?
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a 5 month adventure that aims to help students discover a more intimate and personal relationship with God. It also exposes students to many opportunities for discovering their identify in Christ and unique gifts while learning about God’s purposes for the world. The school nurtures and helps to cultivate a lifestyle of following Jesus and sharing Him with others. The school affirms and helps the students to gain a strong Biblical foundation.
DTS is a full-time training course consisting of two parts: a lecture phase and an outreach phase.
The lecture phase (12 weeks) is composed of different lecture topics that help students understand God and His plans for the world. Besides the lectures, students will learn through community living and immediate practical application in and outside of the classroom. The outreach phase (10-12 weeks) takes the student into an intense cross-cultural experience while putting everything that was learned in lecture phase into practice.
DTS is the prerequisite for not only becoming YWAM staff, but also for YWAM’s second-level training. It is accredited through YWAM’s University of the Nations. Students who complete their DTS gain 20-24 credits. These credits can be used to go towards degree tracks within the University of the Nations.
